#ZelleIntel Interview Prep - Zelle's Role in Supporting Your Job Search
Passive job seekers – this one is for you!
Putting “feelers” out there for a new opportunity can be a job in and of itself... and guess what?! It’s my job! Hello there! I am Nikki Turner, Senior Recruiter for Zelle HR. I work with candidates seeking new opportunities on the regular and help place them in their dream job with our amazing clients. I love doing what I do because I get to see two-fold of a client needing to grow their organization (staffing) and a candidate undergoing a life changing event (finding a job). At Zelle, we take the time to really get to know our candidates – their wants, their needs, their strengths, their weaknesses, the list goes on – and match them with the needs, wants, strengths, and weaknesses, of our client to fill the missing piece to their puzzle. So, what’s the key to placement success? Interview preparation!
Interviews don’t need to be scary; they should be exciting!
You are finding a job – wahoo! But of course, that is always easier said than done. You feel so confident about your skillset as it pertains to the job and then you walk into your interview, sit in the “hot” seat, and immediately your nerves kick in. This is totally normal! And if it makes you feel any better, typically your interviewer is just as nervous. Luckily, Zelle has a team of recruiters who will give you a call and walk you through each step of the way, so you feel prepared and confident meeting potential employers for interviews. Now, keep in mind, you may not get the role every time you do enter the “hot” seat, but Zelle is here to help increase your chances for interviews and hope we can guide you into landing that perfect role.
Here are some of the top items Zelle Recruiters coach job seekers through before they head into their interview:
- Expect to be prepared! Bring formal copies of your resumes for the interviewers. The employer may have already printed out a copy from your application, but it’s always better to be prepared with more. Clean and crisp resumes are more appealing to employers than those that are drawn out and fluffed up. There is nothing wrong with an old black and white resume – it’s most important that your resume is legible, easy navigate through, and has your most recent experience presented well.
- Write out a list of questions! Make sure to do as much research prior to the interview not only about the company but about their benefits, who are interviewing with, etc. Utilize your resources (your Zelle recruiter) to obtain this information beforehand as well to enhance your research. Again, it’s better to be over-prepared even if you wind up not using your list of questions.
- “Dress to impress!” It’s important to look professionally dressed in an interview. However, be sure to ask about the organization’s dress attire prior to an interview (or research their attire online). Reminder, it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed.
- Be you! Not only do employers want to learn about your skillsets as it pertains to the opening, but they also want to get to know you as a person. Get to know your interviewers and you know them. Make sure their company culture is one you see yourself growing within by asking what their core values are. Your personal success is just as important within a working environment as the company’s success.
- Follow up! If you are working with a recruiter, follow-up with them after the interview to share how it was. Ask the recruiter to share a thank you note on your behalf to your interviewers, or if you have the interviewers’ information, share a thank you note directly to them. Thank them for their time and the opportunity to learn more about the organization. This is an additional chance to sell yourself to them one more time of why you would be a great fit for this position/their organization.
Happy interviewing – best of luck!
